Family Group V
Alfred Moore Buie of North Carolina,
Wayne County, Tennessee, and Boone County, Arkansas

From data discussed in Family Group EE, Alfred Moore Buie was likely the son or grandson of John Buie, Sr. and thus the descendent of Duncan Buie of Scotland.  Alfred Moore Buie first appears in the 1840 Wayne County, Tennessee census living in close proximity to a Daniel Buie, b. ca. 1790-1800 (see discussion Family Group Y).  Alfred Moore Buie and his wife, Laurietha, moved to Arkansas about 1853 and settled in Boone County in 1857.  Information on this family group was generously provided by Mrs. Bertie Brittain of Mineola, Texas.
The 1880 Boone County, Arkansas census lists Alfred Moore Buie and his children and also in the same household, Houston Buie, age 5, and Victoria Buie age 3, who are obviously Alfred's grandchildren.  At the time of this writing, the compilers have not determined Houston's and Victoria's parents names and
only suggest the father may be William Buie (Va1) or James Buie (Va5).  Perhaps Houston Buie's death certificate would resolve the question.  Family tradition states that Houston also had a brother named Todd Buie. Descendants of Alfred Moore Buie
Anyone in Arkansas willing to check death records???

Family Group W
John Buie of Logan County, Kentucky

For reasons discussed previously (see Ja6, see below), the compilers have determined
that John Buie of Logan County, Kentucky was most probably the son of John Buie of Robertson County, Tennessee, although there are some inconsistencies in available records and the possibility that John was the son of other Buies in Northern Tennessee has not been excluded.  Family tradition states that John had a brother, William, and they settled near Adairville, Kentucky; however, no record of William has been substantiated.  See Family Group J    Descendants of John Buie of Logan Co., KY
Ja6 and Ja7 Discussion
John Buie Tenn.
m. Sarah, Louisville, Ky.
b. ca. 1775, Cumberland Co., N.C., d. probably Robertson Co.,
In 1826, John and his wife Sarah, then living in Robertson County, Tenn., signed a receipt for property left to him by his father.  The 1830 Robertson County census shows John Buie, age 50-60, with one male age 5-10, two males, ages 10-15, one male, age 15-20, one female, age 10-15, and one female age 30-40.  The compilers have attempted to reconstruct the family of John and Sarah Buie of Robertson County.  In the obituary of William L. Buie in The Macon County Times, Macon County Tennessee, William L. Buie, born February, 1825, was listed as the son of John and Candance Buie of Robertson County.  A letter from Buie men in the Confederate Army to relatives in Smith County mentioned a "Link Buie" who the compilers believe was William L. Buie.  Therefore, Daniel Buie (Family Group K) was closely related to William L. Buie and they were probably brothers.  Also, John Buie (Family Group W) born in 1820 in Tennessee, married Susan Redfearn in 1842 in Robertson County.  The compilers propose that John, William L., and Daniel were probably brothers, although there are several discrepancies.  For example, Daniel is listed in census records as being born in Tennessee in 1814 and undoubtedly John Buie was living in North Carolina at that time.  Also, the name of John's wife, Sarah or Candance, is not resolved.  The descendents of John Buie (Family Group W) claim that John's brother William was never married and died in Adairville, Kentucky.  Since there are many unanswered questions about the family of John Buie of Robertson County, the compilers are assigning the proposed sons, John and Daniel to their own family groups and await further substantiation.
Archibald Buie b. ca. 1775, Cumberland Co., N.C.
m. Mary "Polly" Patterson, 11-18-1807, Bulloch Co., Ga., dau. of Archibald Patterson
Both Adm. Patterson and the compilers have independently concluded that this Archibald Buie of Bulloch Co., Ga. was the son of John Buie of Upper Little River.  In fact, early records of Bulloch County include mention of Daniel, John and Sarah Buie denoting that Archibald's siblings lived in Georgia in the 1800's and 1810's.

Family Group X
William P. Buie of North Carolina, Tennessee, and Mississippi

Born in North Carolina, William P. Buie came first to Tipton County, Tennessee (1840 census) and later to Desoto County, Mississippi (1850).  He and his descendents were researched by Mrs. Margaret Buie Radeke of Cypress, Texas.  The connection to the other North Carolina Buie families was not established.
Anyone working on this group??  Descendants of William P. Buie

Family Group Y
Nathaniel (or Daniel) Buie of Wayne County, Tennessee

The recent descendents of this family group believe that their ancestor's name was Nathaniel; however, the compilers, along with Bertie Brittain of Mineola, Texas who have researched this group, believe his name was Daniel and was enumerated in the 1840 census of Wayne County, Tennesse and the 1860 census of Carroll County, Arkansas.  Perhaps his name was really "Daniel Nathaniel".  He is almost certainly the brother of Alfred Moore Buie (Family Group V) of Wayne County, Tennessee and Boone County, Arkansas.  Significant help in compiling this family group was obtained from Aaron Floyd Buie of Llano, Texas, William Herbert Buie, and Robert Lee Buie.  Descendants of Nathaniel Buie

Those working on Buies in Arkansas, any information is welcome.  There are many unknowns in these groups.  Please see discussion for Family Group EE also.
