died Bef. 1916 in Minneapolis, MN. He married ETHELINDE UNKNOWN.
She was born 1853 in Maine.

JAMES L. BUIE: Letter in possesion of Gordon Blowers (grandson of George Buie):
1900
Dear Brother - -
I suppose you think I do not wish to answer your letters but that is not so. I find it hard to write as I am not l used to it. I have a private secretary whose hand you probably recognize.
I was glad to hear that you were well and that Em (George's wife) was getting along so nicely. We have all been well except Grace( James' daughter) and her throat has bothered her so much I became quite alarmed but it is getting better now. The weather has been dreadful hot for the last two weeks. The most dreadful weather that I ever experienced. This spring the weather was so dry that the oat & wheat crops are almost a failure. The potatoe & corn crop is good.
Business is fairly good. I am at the same job and have not missed a day's pay for 19 yrs. I wrote Kate (James' sister) some time ago & commenced by saying I guessed I would answer my own letter and I received an answer, prompt.
How are the folks at home. I ought to write Cora (James' half-sister, Cora Buie Hudson) but it is like pulling teeth when I have been out all day and come home there is work to be done and when that is done it is bed time and Sunday I rest all I can. I always thought lots of Cora. How is Bice and Birt (half-brothers of James).
Last spring Grace received a letter from Aunt Net (I think the half-sister of Hannah Manchester Buie who would actually be the aunt of James' half-siblings- not of him) in which she said you were going on a farm. When you do you better come west. The milk business is a good paying one out here. I could never think of working one of those worn out sand banks in Ohio. I think a man of your ability can do just as well in the city and if you should get out of a job there you had better come west and I think I could help you to get something and when you were looking for something you would not be under so much expense.
Maude (James' other daughter) and the babies have been out in the country for a couple of weeks and have returned. Esther (James' wife) is well. I must think of closing. Give my love to all the folks and your family also. Hoping to hear from you soon.
I remain,
Your Brother,
J.L. Buie

CURTIS PETER HUDSON: Curtis "Hutson" was the name on his marriage license. The license also

listed his father as Hiram Hudson, and his mother as Ellen Walker. He was born in Charlestown,

Portage Co., and he was a farmer in Sheffield, Ohio when he and Grandma Huddie got married on

Oct. 10, 1903.

When Curtis died at the County Home Hospital, he went by the name of Hudson. He was put in the

hospital on May 30, 1939. In July, while still in the hospital, he suffered from cardiovascular

decomposition and mitral regurgitation. When he died, he was buried in Potter's field, marker # 330.

Death certificate stated that he was an operative engineer and he died of hypostatic pneumonia.

Letter from Violet M. Hudson to Marie Stump Smith (7-29-87):

"I knew your Grandfather Hudson, we always called him Pete and he came to Wyoming when we lived there. He drank a

lot and him and my grandfather had many harsh words as Pete drank a lot, but us children liked him end he sang lots of

songs and played games with us. My grandfather and him were first cousins."

Doris Stump Wilson: "I don't remember a lot about my grandfather except that he drank and had a

bad temper. At one time he bought a motorcycle and was riding it and put it in the ditch. He got so

angry that he sold it to a bystander for $0.50. He used to come end see us when he needed money.

He bought me a bicycle and my own girls used it when they were in school. He had a good job and

was an equipment operator and helped build roads."

Erma Hudson Stump: "Remembers that her Aunt Minnie on the Hudson side (Curtis's sister?) once said

something to her about her "sister Minnie", but Erma was an only child. When she questioned her

aunt about this sister, Aunt Minnie clammed up and wouldn't say another word. Apparently Curtis had

another child, but he never divorced Cora, and he never told Cora or Erma about this child."

After Erma was born, Curtis left Cora.

"They never divorced, but the only time he came home to see Cora, Erma, or Erma's children was when he was drunk
