There has been a thorough but unsuccessful search for descendents of this John Buie. Many contradictions were encountered. For example, according to Huxford's Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia, an Annie Buie, b. 4-4-1820, d. 5-2-1900, daughter of John Buie of Tattnall County, Georgia, married David Summerlin on 5-19-1842 in Bulloch County, Georgia, and had a large family in Coffee, now Atkinson County, Georgia. Annie may, however, be more closely related to the Bulloch County Buies (See Family Group J). Also, Nepsy Buie, daughter of John Buie, was born in 1821 and died on 1-24-1872 and is buried in the Guthrie Cemetery in Henderson County, Tex. Although strong documented evidence indicates the father of Malcom Buie (Ia2ble3) and John Buie (Ia2blcl) was Malcolm Buie (ca. 1770 - ca. 1829), the possibility that they were the sons of John Buie has not been totally excluded. In the 1860 Henry County census, there is the following family: William R. Buie, age 35, b. Ga., Zelpha Buie, age 30 b. Ga., Elzy R. Buie, age 9, b. Ga., William B. Buie, age 6, b. Ga., Mary E. Buie, age 5, b. Ga. and James C. Buie, age 2, b. Ala. The compilers have been unable to connect them with the other Henry County families. Many Buies with the same given names and similar ages were living in Gadsden County, Florida and Henry County, Alabama at the same time and this chapter represents years of effort to study and separate them.
