1. ARCHIBALD1 BUIE1 was born Bet. 1740 - 1745 in Bladen Co., NC, and died Abt. 1784 in Bladen (Cumberland Co.), NC. He married ANN UNKNOWN. She died Bef. 1784 in Cumberland Co., NC.
Notes for ARCHIBALD BUIE:
Preliminary research on this family was originally presented by Bernard Buie in his book, Scotch Family Buie and after careful analysis of the early North Carolina records, the compilers offer additional information on the early history of this large and prominent group.
When Archibald Buie died in 1782 in Cumberland County, he left considerable properties to the children of his son, Archibald, namely John, Rebekah, and Mary. The wording of the will inferred that the children's parents were not in good health and, indeed, in April, 1784, Duncan Buie was "granted guardianship of the children of his brother, A. Buie" in the Cumberland County Court. In 1798, John Buie of Moore County, sold 160 acres of land on the Cape Fear River which Archibald Buie had conveyed to his sons John and Archibald and at the latter Archibald's demise, his son John became heir.
From the above facts, the compilers have determined that Archibald and Ann Buie
died at relatively young ages leaving three small children including a son John, moved from North Carolina to Union Church and was known as "John the Shoemaker". For a detailed study of this family group, the reader is referred to Scotch Family Buie. (by Bernard Buie,1950)

Records indicate he was an only son.
He was reportedly killed by robbers at Washingtom Creek, near Natchez, MS and is buried at a nearby cemetery.

For an extensive study of Aaron Hinsdale's life, one may read Scotch Family Buie (by Bernard Buie). Aaron Hinsdale Buie served in Co., E 4th MS Cav., CSA under Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest and young Buie's exploits are personally recorded in Reminiscences of the Boys in Grey by Yearly. The Buie family moved to Texas in 1873 and lived near the Isaac Newton Buie family (He is in Family Groups C, R, and S) in Milford. After residing in Crisp, Waxahachie and Auburn, A. H. Buie finally settled in Stamford, Texas in 1904.
